Angola reports more than 1200 computer crimes in 2022 – Prensa Latina
The analyst and researcher Francisco Pedro confirmed that the Directorate for fighting Computer Crimes of the SIC processed a greater number of claims for illicit, adding 1077 cases more compared to the balance in the same period of 2021,as disclosed on Monday by the Angolan portal dedicated to information technologies.
According to the report, the data is part of a report presented by the SIC during the Cybersecur Summit 2022 event, in which it notified a total of 2,280 complaints in the course of the two years.
By typology, the most common computer violations were fraud (583 cases), falsehood (511), illegitimate access to the information system and database on users’ private lives (388), theft (373), extortion (196), libel, defamation and slander (130).
When analyzing the above statistics, the SIC determined an increase in computer fraud, identifying 379 incidents compared to 204 reported in 2021.
In economic terms, citizens lost one billion 137 million 169 thousand 783.03 kwanzas (about 2,3 million dollars) during the stage under review, as a result of these crimes.
