A group of Russian hackers claim to have breached the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) online portal, but the agency says that their internal systems have not been compromised.
Earlier this month, pro-Russia hacker group KillNet claimed to have breached U.S. government online properties, including an FMCSA portal.
The FMCSA acknowledges that hackers attempted to gain access using stolen credentials, but says the integrity of their systems is intact.

The FMCSA provided CDLLife with the following statement on the attempted attack:
“The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s internal systems have not been compromised. FMCSA is aware of attempts to access its public portal using stolen user passwords, and our security teams continue to monitor the systems to ensure accounts and data are not altered. FMCSA has advised all account holders to immediately change their passwords to protect their credentials.“
Cybersecurity publication Hackread.com claims that KillNet was spotted using the Facebook account of an FMCSA employee and posting “We are KillNet” on the employee’s page.
KillNet also recently claimed to have accessed an FBI database that contained personal information for thousands of agents.
KillNet came into the public eye at the beginning of the Russia/Ukraine conflict for cyber attacks against countries that support Ukraine.
