QUINCY — Bethel AME Church, 905 Oak, is the site for literacy classes for the public while partnering with John Wood Community College for instruction. The classes are free and open to the public. Genny Skeffington is the main instructor.
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. No end date has been selected. Registration is not required. Computers are available on a first-come first-served basis. More computers may be added as the need arises.
Attendees do not have to be a member of the church to attend. Bethel AME Church pastor Carl R. Terry III wants everyone to have access and knowledge to better their lives and serve the community. To assist in this initiative, Bethel AME Church gave away more than 360 free computers and Chromebooks this past summer.
For more information, contact JWCC director of CTE programming Kayla Wentz at 217-641-4957 or kwentz@jwcc.edu. To contact Bethel AME Church, call 217-223-9717.
