Pressure Systems International bought by Clarience Technologies – San Antonio Business Journal – The Business Journals

Pressure Systems International, a San Antonio-based manufacturer and exporter of auto tire inflation systems and tire pressure monitors, has been bought by Clarience Technologies LLC.
Clarience is an automotive technology company based in Southfield, Michigan. The company operates several automotive technology brands for commercial vehicles, supply chain management and passenger vehicles.
“In 1993, we imagined a better way for fleets to keep their tires at the correct tire pressure. We realized quickly we were doing more than forming a new company — we were launching a new industry,” Tim Musgrave, president and CEO of Pressure Systems Technologies, said in a press release. “Now as part of Clarience Technologies, we can continue delivering future innovations to transportation.”
Musgrave will retain his role as president and PSI will continue operations under the Clarience brand at its building in San Antonio, which is on the East Side near the intersection of Highway 410 and Interstate 35.
As of March, PSI reported 56 employees on its assembly floor, with nearly half being between the ages of 20 and 30.
PSI is best known for its development of its Meritor Tire Inflation System, which monitors and automatically inflates commercial truck tires while still on the road.
“As electric vehicle fleets seek to maximize range and minimize downtime, tire rolling resistance plays an increasingly important role in determining EV range,” said Brian Kupchella, Clarience Technologies CEO in a press release.
PSI exports their technology across the globe, with two million systems installed on commercial trailers according to its website.
As part of the deal Clarience will also acquire PSI’s RV trailer branch, which also specializes in tire pressure monitoring.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and requests from the Business Journal for comment were not answered by time of publication.
