Safer return to activities and sports
PITTSFORD, N.Y. and HEREFORD, Pa., July 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, 20/15 Visioneers LLC., a leading, advanced science and technology management consulting and marketing services company and Qmetrics Technologies, a leader in medical image analysis, announced a partnership to introduce an innovative assessment of mTBI/concussion severity.
Concussions or mTBI in sports has lead to behavioral changes and premature and tragic deaths for too many athletes
Qmetrics’ Concussion Index delivers a number derived from multiple 3D features of a single conventional MRI exam that provides an objective indicator of post-concussive microtrauma severity. The higher the number, the more severe the post-concussive injury.
“Concussions are largely diagnosed and managed via patient symptoms,” says Edward Schreyer, CEO, Qmetrics Technologies. “Post-concussive brain injuries are typically too subtle to be seen by the human eye. Our technology-driven Concussion Index uses algorithms to identify post-concussive injuries. As a parent of two kids who play contact sports, I’m excited that we are partnering with 20/15 Visioneers to raise awareness of this objective assessment of concussions. Hopefully, it will lead to improved management of mTBI and better long-term outcomes.”
“20/15 Visioneers is an in silico-first leader in consulting and has discovered the life-changing capabilities that Qmetrics’ patented Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology can do for concussion patients and athletes. This innovative technology can improve concussive understanding and time to heal and ultimately enhance the safety of many contact sports and potentially prevent CTE. ” John F. Conway, Chief Visioneer Officer, 20/15 Visioneers.

Long-term exposure to high heat can become lethal. Mark Wilson/Getty ImagesHeat waves are becoming supercharged as the climate changes – lasting longer, becoming more frequent and getting just plain hotter. One question a lot of people are asking is: “When will it get too hot for normal daily activity as we know it, even for young, healthy adults?” The answer goes beyond the temperature you see on the thermometer. It’s also about humidity. Our research shows the combination of the two can get da

Fyto wants our plants to work smarter, not harder. The Petaluma, California–based company is developing both hardware and software to automate and scale the production of aquatic plants, or what founder and CEO Jason Prapas calls “superplants,” in a controlled environment as a more resilient option for feed, food and soil health. Prapas launched Fyto out of MIT in 2019 and explained that he considers these plants “super” because of the speed at which they are capable of growing, due in part to some deep plant science.
Fossils found in Argentina of a ferocious dinosaur with a huge head covered in bumps and crests reminiscent of a gargoyle are providing insight into the evolution of some of Earth's biggest predatory dinosaurs including a curious trend toward puny arms. Scientists said on Thursday they discovered in northern Patagonia extensive skeletal remains of a previously unknown species called Meraxes gigas, including one of the most complete skulls of a large meat-eating dinosaur ever unearthed. All meat-eating dinosaurs belonged to a bipedal assemblage called theropods.

On June 23, 2022, the joint European/Japanese Space Agencies’ mission to Mercury, BepiColombo, took a second swing past the solar system’s smallest and innermost planet, donating some of its orbital energy so the spacecraft can drop into an orbit closer in to the Sun. This was only the second of six total passes of Mercury — it also did the same maneuver at Earth once and with Venus twice. On this flyby of Mercury it flew about 200 kilometers above the planet’s surface, and as it did so it took
One and a half billion dollars is a big mea culpa, but that is what one philanthropy is throwing on the table to address what it admits is a longstanding problem: the failure to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in health research. The Howard Hughes Medical Institute, one of the nation’s wealthiest philanthropies, in May announced a $1.5 billion effort designed to help scientists of color advance in their careers. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, for instance, is working with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to award $1.15 million to biomedical researchers who have a record of promoting DEI.

It wasn't long ago that orbital launches were something that took years of planning and months of tests and careful preparation. "Responsive launch capability was baked into the design of Electron and our launch sites since day one, and we’ve made strategic investments into vertical spacecraft manufacturing to enable this," said Rocket Lab founder and CEO Peter Beck. Your company will, of course, have to be part of the program, and collaborate ahead of time with Rocket Lab on the exact specifications, orbit and other variables necessary to any successful launch.
