Samsung is reportedly working on satellite communication tech for the Galaxy S23 series – TechNave

After the introduction of satellite connectivity by both Apple and HUAWEI in their latest smartphones, it looks like the feature would also be coming to next year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup. This is according to a report from South Korea which claims that Samsung is currently working on transmitting text messages and low quality images via satellite.
The report, made by South Korean-based portal ET News said that American-based company Iridium Communications Inc is Samsung’s potential satellite partner. Similar to the feature found on HUAWEI and Apple smartphones, the technology can be used to send SOS messages via satellite when users are outside of cellular range.
One interesting thing about the report is that Samsung is also working on transmitting images via the technology, something that is not supported by both HUAWEI and Apple. For reference, Apple introduced Emergency SOS via Satellite with the iPhone 14 series which allows users to transmite compressed SOS messages via satellite, while HUAWEI debuted a similar feature on the Mate 50 series.
However, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for the latest tech news such as this.
